Hello again guys. Its me, Johnos. Today I watched a few episodes of the great show Mystery Science Theater 3000. I thought to myself "I want more people to remember this show, or for people to at least see what its all about. But how..." Then I realized "Hey! I have a website!" So now we look at a great show that sadly is no longer around for us to appreciate. This is not a review, but rather me talking about how much I love the show and how sad I am it's no longer on. Lets get at it.
What Was It About?[]
Well, the theme song explained that in perfect detail.
In the not-too-distant future- Next Sunday A.D.- There was a guy named Joel, Not too different from you or me. He worked at Gizmonic Institute, Just another face in a red jumpsuit. He did a good job cleaning up the place, But his bosses didn't like him So they shot him into space.
We'll send him cheesy movies, The worst we can find (la-la-la). He'll have to sit and watch them all, And we'll monitor his mind (la-la-la). Now keep in mind Joel can't control Where the movies begin or end (la-la-la) Because he used those special parts To make his robot friends.
Robot Roll Call: (All right, let's go!) Cambot! (Pan left!) Gypsy! (Hi, girl!) Tom Servo! (What a cool guy!) Croooow! (He's a wisecracker.)
If you're wondering how he eats and breathes and other science facts (la la la), Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show, I should really just relax For Mystery Science Theater 3000!
That covers it pretty well. They just make fun of old movies for an hour and a half.
My Introduction[]
One day as a kid, I was flipping through the channels and an old movie came on, except there was something different. There were three silhouettes in the corner. I watched it for a while and I was hooked. After all these years, I still love it and watch all that I can on YouTube.
How it has Affected Me[]
It has inspired me to closely examine and riff on movies when I watch them. What I've always wanted to do is gather one or two of my buddies, sit down, and do commentary on a public domain movie. Not to explain things like normal commentary, but to riff on it and generally be funny. That would be awesome. I might do that on my YouTube channel some day.
Afterword[]
So yeah, I was feeling pretty nostalgic so I wrote my feelings. I'll watch a new movie soon so I can do a review. Have a good one out there!
